Privacy Policy
The short version: this website doesn’t use cookies, analytics, or tracking. We only get your personal information when you email us or become a customer, and we use it to talk with you and provide your website. We don’t sell it, and we only share it with the services we need to run the business, such as Stripe for payments.
Who this covers
This Privacy Policy explains how Vale Digital (“we,” “us”), a web design business based in Virginia, handles personal information. It covers this website (valedigital.com), the emails we exchange with you, and the website subscription we provide to customers. It works together with our Terms of Service.
Information we collect
Information you send us
The contact form on this site doesn’t send anything to our servers. It opens your own email app with your message filled in, and we receive only what you choose to send. That’s usually your name, business name, email address, phone number (if you include it), and your message. The same goes for anything you email us directly.
Customer information
When you become a customer, we collect what we need to provide the Service. That includes your contact details, your business details, the content you give us for your site (text, logo, photos), and records of your edit requests and our communication.
Payment information
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card or bank details go directly to Stripe, and we never see or store your full card number. Stripe shares limited information with us, such as your name, email, billing address, the last four digits of your card, and payment status. Stripe’s handling of your information is described in Stripe’s privacy policy.
Domain registration
When we register a domain in your name, the registrar requires owner contact details, such as name, address, email, and phone. We give those to the registrar for this purpose. Where the registrar offers privacy protection, we turn it on so your details aren’t shown in public domain records.
Public business information
To build free website previews, we use information that businesses have already made public, such as business names, addresses, hours, services, and photos from public listings. If you’d like us to stop using your business’s information, contact us and we will.
Cookies and analytics
This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics, advertising pixels, or any other tracking.
Like every website, it does involve some technical data:
- Hosting logs. Our hosting provider may automatically log basic request data, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. This is used to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Fonts. The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts and Fontshare. Your browser connects to their servers to download the fonts, so they receive your IP address and browser information.
How we use information
- To reply to your messages and talk with you about a website
- To build previews and provide, host, maintain, and edit customer websites
- To bill customers and manage subscriptions
- To send service messages, such as payment notices, edit confirmations, and changes to our terms
- To keep our website and services secure and working properly
- To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations
We don’t send marketing newsletters. If we contact you about a website we’ve built for your business and you’d rather not hear from us, just say so and we’ll stop.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiry emails for as long as they’re useful for the conversation, and we delete them on request. We keep customer information for as long as your subscription is active. After it ends, we keep it only as long as needed for the purposes in our Terms of Service, or as required for tax and accounting records. We delete site files after the 30-day window described in our Terms.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect personal information, including secure (HTTPS) connections, reputable service providers, and limiting who can access it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we have about you, and give you a copy
- Correct information that’s inaccurate
- Delete your information, unless we need to keep it to provide an active subscription or meet a legal obligation
- Stop contacting you
To make a request, email support@valedigital.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we’ll respond within 45 days. We won’t treat you differently for making a request. Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under your state’s privacy laws, and we’ll honor those where they apply.
Websites we host for customers
We build, host, and maintain websites for other businesses. Each of those websites represents that business, not Vale Digital. If you visit one or contact the business through it, for example by filling out its contact form, your information belongs to that business, and it decides how your information is used. We handle that information only to keep the site running for the business, and we don’t use it for anything of our own. If you have a question about your information on one of those sites, contact that business directly.
Children
Our services are for businesses and aren’t directed to children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll let customers know by email before it takes effect.
